Hope Bridge helps the world’s climate refugees maintain stable lives in safe shelters.
Hope Bridge strives to help climate refugees around the world who have lost their homes due to natural disasters caused by climate changes such as typhoons, floods, and droughts. We help them maintain a stable life in a difficult environment, or successfully resettle in a new region.
Climate change and natural disasters
According to a research, 90% of the causes of urgent relief last year were related to climate change.
There are approximately 37 million people worldwide who have lost their lives in natural disasters over the past 100 years.
As the years go by, natural disasters are becoming more severe and the damages are becoming more substantial. It is reported that this increase in the number and severity of natural disasters is related to climate change which is a direct result of human impact on the environment. Also, the number of victims of natural disasters has increased by an average of 900% since the 1960s. According to UN, 90% of cases in which emergency relief has been required were related to climate changes.

While climate change is a global phenomenon, the damage is not equal in all areas. According to the fourth IPCC report, the effects of climate change are closely related to the issue of poverty in underdeveloped countries.
‘Climate refugees’ are people who have experienced a severe decline in quality of life or have had to move from where they used to live due to natural disasters resulting from climate change and global warming. 89% of climate refugees are concentrated in Asia and Africa.
Project fields
1. Healthcare projects
For the climate refugees to live healthier lives, the goal of these projects is to support various health care activities such as disease prevention and treatment, healthcare facility support, child nutritional meal support, and maternity health services.

2. Drinking water projects
The goal of this project is to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities while improving awareness and health habits of local residents through personal hygiene education. We also help organize a local committee and support its management so that the residents can solve drinking water hygiene problems themselves.

3. Education support projects
We provide various services to increase educational access and the quality of education in disaster-affected or risk-vulnerable areas.
Through the construction of educational facilities such as schools and libraries and support for school uniforms, school supplies, etc., children can grow healthily and become responsible members of the community.

4. Town independence support projects
By helping the residents of poverty-stricken areas that lack resources and possess reduced financial capacity to become financially independent,
they are able to escape from the vicious economic cycle. We work with village communities to create an environment that facilitates sustainable profit.
