Who we are

We will become a bridge of hope that shares love, hand-in-hand
It has been more than fifty years since the Hope Bridge - Korea Disaster Relief Association set sail. The Hope Bridge – Korea Disaster Relief Association is a purely private relief association that was developed in 1961 through cooperation among broadcasting companies, newspaper companies and social organizations to help our neighbors
when they are suffering from unexpected disasters. For the past half-century, it has served as a bridge of hope that passes on the warmth and kindness of the Korean people whenever unfortunate disasters occur.
Through the revision of the Disaster Relief Act in 2001, the Hope Bridge - Korea Disaster Relief Association was reborn as the nation’s only official disaster relief organization. Over the past fifty-plus years, it has raised more than 1 trillion won, accepted more than 30,000 donated items, and received a Presidential Commendation as a ‘disaster relief institute’ on three separate occasions in 1996, 2002 and 2011. To mark its 50th anniversary in 2011, the Korea Disaster Relief Association unveiled its BI (brand identity) ‘Hope Bridge’ in order to take a step closer to the people. Hope Bridge represents a ‘bridge of love that finds hope through sharing,’ and it symbolizes the will of the Korea Disaster Relief Association to be the first to go to our neighbors who experience disasters and encourage and support them.
Based on the experience and trust we have built up over the past fifty years, Hope Bridge - Korea Disaster Relief Association promises to become a bridge of hope that passes on love so that the suffering of victims of disasters can be transformed into hope.
